This is my cousin Gabriella on her birthday in 2019 at one of our family’s favorite secret swimming spot in the NJ Pine Barrens. There is definitely a peaceful element to this photo for me, but there’s also the question of vices, innocence lost. There’s a duality to it, I think. It’s a complex one for me, much like life. It’s been a favorite.
